About usHonarpour Technology Company, LLC, HTC
Dr. Matt Honarpour is the CEO of the Honarpour Technology Company, LLC. He provides consulting and integrated training and mentoring for international and domestic petroleum companies, and services as a SME for carbon sequestration and mining projects. Previously, he was the Principal Reservoir Engineer at BHP for 7 years. Prior to that, he was the Global Reservoir Engineering Advisor at Hess Corporation for 6 years. Prior to that, he was a Senior Reservoir Engineering Advisor at ExxonMobil for 18 years. He has experience in reservoir engineering, reservoir characterization and their impact on reservoir-aquifer system performance. He has contributed extensively to the science and practice of rock-fluid characterization, their modeling, integration of core analysis data with wireline logs and well test data for conventional sandstone, naturally fractured, conventional carbonates and Unconventional reservoirs. He coordinated the Integrated Reservoir Management System, IRMS while he was working at ExxonMobil Upstream Company, URC. IRMS was an ExxonMobil flagship technology for all Upstream Business Units. He has conducted major project evaluation and engineering and has coordinated research and applications projects. He has done an extensive work in the characterization of recovery mechanisms including chemical IOR, gas injection/ gravity drainage, low salinity waterflood and MEOR. He was the coordinator of the laboratory study of CO2/ H2S storage, CC&UST in Arab C aquifer. He has coordinated work in viscous oil, light oil, volatile oil, gas-condensate, and dry gas reservoirs. Matt has an extensive expertise in deep water GoM sandstone formations and potential formation damage and remediation. He has worked on giant gas, gas-condensate and oil reservoirs around the world, giant hydrocarbon reservoirs in Gulf of Mexico, giant light oil reservoir in Eastern Canada. giant fracture carbonate reservoirs in Iran and giant oil and gas reservoirs in offshore, West Africa. Matt has applied the state-of-the-art reservoir management technology in sandstone and carbonate HC reservoirs at several countries around the world. He has worked on Aquifer characterization, Potash mining project in Canada. Dr. Honarpour has several years of teaching and mentoring experience in both academia; University of Missouri, Rolla, Montana Tech, Butte, Montana and in the petroleum industry. He has served as project manager of several large multidisciplinary projects. He has been an active member of SPE over the past 50 years and has served at leadership positions in committees, ATWs, Forums, Technical Review Committee, SPE Special Series, SPE Professional Certification committee, Award committee and Reservoir Technology of 21st Century, “Summit” and Unconventional Reservoir Tech Conference. He has supported projects at several universities and industry JIPs and presented technical talks at SPE-GCS and dozen SPE International and student chapters. Doctor Honarpour has an impressive depth & breadth in rock-fluid characterization, their integration, modeling and their impacts on fluid flow performance and recovery mechanism. He contributed to the development of the API Subcommittee on Core Analysis, RP-40, published in 1998 and many other books and SPE, AAPG, SPWLA, URTEC technical papers and presentations. Technologies that Dr. Honarpour has developed over the past half a century has impacted the petroleum industry at world scale.
